Lake Placid Ice Climbing

Just back from some ice climbing near Lake Placid in the ADK. The ice there is thick with short approaches from the road. It was magic on ice!

I haven’t had a chance to edit all the footage from the trip, but quickly put together this little iMovie trailer for Brian and Josh. If you like it, please subscribe, rate & comment! More to come!

Ouray Ice Festival 2011 Videos

Just posted up some videos from the Ouray Ice Festival! Both were cut with iMove ’11 as an excuse to play with it. Pretty cool app. Though Windows Live Move Maker has many competitive features, the trailer templates are so cool. Here’s a quick trailer I made from our footage:

Windows Phone 7 Users — Get NWAC forecasts

Some local powder buffs at Microsoft have developed a trial version of a Windows Phone application called “Peaked”. The application will deliver NWAC forecasts directly to your phone. It saves data retrieved from the web and saves it for offline viewing.

Baja & Ice in Ouray

One week since coming back from our 9-day alpine tour of the North Cascades, I finally have a tally on all the footage I took. 200 GB! Yikes! My goal for the trip was to produce a short film about the experience. I’m both excited and overwhelmed at the project ahead. Now begins the arduous process of editing…

For a warm up, I pulled some clips from our Ouray ice climbing trip earlier this year. It’s been on my backlog for quite some time, and since we’re winding down summer here it seemed fitting — I’ve already started to dream about ice! :) Yes, yes. I know there is still some good fall climbing … but what can you do? The ice calls!
