Wow, happy Spring everyone! April already? I can’t believe it.
This winter I worked on so many side projects, I barely had time to write. Nonetheless, I’ve been working on some very fun things!
One of the biggest things that happened this winter was the launch of KAF Adventures’ new website. It had been SO long since I had done any web development, it was fun to stretch my legs & dust off the ‘ol skills. I cannot tell you how happy I was to finally flip on the new look. KAF had outgrown it’s older frame-based site and is now fully indexable by search engines. We hope this makeover will bring more traffic to the site and is friendlier to use. Of course we have more ideas in the works and the site will continue to evolve, so more to come on that…
January & February was about ice climbing. Unfortunately I was nursing a torn ligament in my hip so I did more belaying in my seasonal trek to Ouray than climbing, but my love for that place and my friends always makes it well worth it.
This year we made it the Ouray Ice Festival so Mick could spin some records and DJ parts of the festival, one of his long time dreams. Techno, Ice Climbing, and Free Beer. Someone had to do it… Here’s some clips from Ouray Ice Fest & Mick’s DJ experience at the Petzl Party.
In Feb, we headed out to the ADK for some ice climbing near Lake Placid. It was my first time to the ADK. Wow — what an amazing place. I had so much fun on that trip that I came away more inspired than ever to climb, train, and experience beautiful places. I was living off that high for weeks.
March was filled with work & therapy. Fresh off from my climbing trips, I headed back to Physical Therapy to continue rehab of my hip. It was feeling good, but still stiff. Unfortunately, some of the therapy caused more inflamation. So instead of ice climbing, I was ice-ING. I spent several weeks in a lot of pain sitting, standing, or laying. It wrecked havoc on my training schedule. Unfortunately, the cost of playing around so much in winter caused my work to pile up, so the combo of being unable to sit comfortably and a pile ‘o work, has made from some interesting methods to getting it all done.
So, now we’re into April! Wowza. Time is flying to fast… Too fast, I realize. I strive to fill my life with the things I love, and by doing so, I sometimes get going 100 miles an hour. It can be amazing and exciting, but the inner spirit also needs time for reflection, rest, and stillness. So while I do have fun plans for the spring & summer, coming back to the top of my list is creating time & space to pause. To get out of the machine that can sometimes be life.
Funny enough, Fitz and Becca Cahall just released their video short called “The Love Letter” which speaks to the idea of getting back to basics and reconnecting with passions. It echos my thoughts exactly and is timely for this post. Love.this.vid. Please check it out and give them some love by commenting & sharing!
